NOSE-Nasopharyngealcancer(NPC)iscommoninthisregionandtheposteriornasalspaceisnoteasyto assess without an endoscope. Hence accurate diagnosis is important.AdditionalopticalimagingegNarrowBandImaging(NBI)canaddontheprecisionofdiagnosisduriingendoscopy even before any tissue sample is taken.
Nose/nasopharyngeal cancer diagnosis
An accurate biopsy becomes even more important for a patient who has undergone treatment before as the importance of diagnosing/excluding a relapse cannot be overemphasized.

The patient has completed her course of radiotherapy treatment for nasopharyngeal cancer (NPC). 2 years later, she came with for regular check up and this was found :Endoscopic examination of that area using special optical technique called Narrow Band Imaging (NBI) that makes the apparent suspicious area (blue arrow) more visible to the eye (yellow arrow). Targeted biopsy confirmed NPC - again ! She was diagnosed as a case of RELAPSE/RECURRENCE of NPC.

You surely don’t need to have whether half or whole of your gland removed just to get a reliable biopsy report !
